Automatic printing machine – screen printing machine operated by electric motors and hydraulic system.Automatic screen presses are much more productive than manual presses and generally produce higher quality printing results.

Film/film positive – this is transparent “plastic” on which your work is printed in all black.

Printer/press reel – this is a square metal or wooden frame with a screen made of a mesh material and stretched tightly over it.

Silk-screen/mesh – used to print screen or artwork of a particular color.

Squeegee – this is a tool with a flat rubber blade on one side that pulls ink evenly across the screen.

Template – this is the uncovered part of the screen that allows the ink to pass through the screen to print it to the surface below.

 

The yellow part of these screens is the part of the screen where ink will be pushed through and leave the design on your garment

These are the different types of inks that can be used in the screen printing process, their advantages and characteristics

 

Curing ink – ink that passes through the oven at about 330 degrees Fahrenheit.Curing is the actual chemical process of ink drying and bonding to the shirt fabric.

Discharge ink – discharge ink actually “discharges” the color from the tee so that the original color of the tee “fades”.Compared with plasticized sol, it also has a soft feel, which can leave you with a rough feeling.Inking is only suitable for 100% cotton garments.

Metal inks – plasticized sols containing metal particles.

 

Metallic ink

Plastisol ink – this ink is at the top of the line, not immersed in it, and does not dissolve in water.They are best suited for printing opaque graphics on clothing.

 

Sol ink

Specialty inks – specialty inks refer to almost anything except plasticizer.These can sometimes include drain and water-based inks, but are more commonly used to refer to foil transfer, dark light, powder puff inks, and other unique types of inks.

UV ink – an ink that hardens or solidifies when exposed to UV light.
